Hot medium, cool topic: a competition is launched in Germany
Coca-Cola Germany and the WWF are launching the "Mach ’ne Welle" ("Make a Wave") competition for school children. The aim of the competition is to find the best idea for a video clip on the topic of "Water as a life source". Teams of three to six pupils in years 7 to 10 can directly submit their ideas via the website machnewelle.de. This offers a specially developed entry mask for documenting the ideas: with a few mouse clicks, the pupils can upload up to ten image files and subsequently comment on them. The result is a concept for a video clip that can be directly entered in the competition. With the support of director Sven Unterwaldt, the winning team will be allowed to shoot their idea at a suitable location in Germany. In addition, each member of the winning team receives a video camera. The closing date for entries is 31 July 2008.
Under the patronage of the German Minister for the Environment Sigmar Gabriel, the initiators want to use the competition to appeal to people to act more responsibly towards the vital resource of water. The website thus provides further information on the topic of water conservation and sustainable water usage.
